It is a Grade II listed Georgian manor of around 1810 set in 120 acres, built for Admiral Sir John Acworth Ommanney and later home to the founder of Schroders in England. The Orangery takes 250 against about 80 beds in the Mews cottages, so we stage arrivals along the single rural lane off the A31 rather than bunching them at the gate.

The approach

The estate is reached from the A31 Farnham to Alton dual carriageway, turning onto Crondall Road. The pinch points are that junction and the lane after it rather than the estate itself, which is wide open once you are through. Note that some listings give a Glebe House address in Bentley, which is correspondence rather than the entrance you want.

Planning the guest transport

The Mews cottages sleep about 80, and the Orangery seats up to 250, so a full wedding leaves well over half the guests needing a lift. Farnham is the natural base at eight minutes away. Bentley station is nearer still but the service is sparse enough that it rarely helps. Larger guest lists are worth staging so nobody queues at the gate.

Where do we turn off for Northbrook Park?

Off the A31 Farnham to Alton dual carriageway onto Crondall Road. The junction and the lane after it are the slow parts; the estate itself is wide open once you are through.

There are two addresses in listings, which is right?

Some listings give a Glebe House address in Bentley, which is correspondence rather than the entrance. Use the GU10 5EU postcode for the venue itself.

How many guests will need transport?

More than half on a full wedding. The Mews cottages sleep around 80 and the Orangery seats up to 250, so the shortfall is significant and it is best planned rather than discovered.

Is Bentley station any use for guests?
