Bentley grew along the ancient Winchester to London road and still feels like a working village rather than a commuter drop-off: the church, the primary school and the village shop are all active. The parish covers roughly 2,300 acres of farmland with views south towards Alice Holt Forest.

The bus stops here are split by direction, towards Farnham outside The Star Inn and towards Alton on Station Road, which confuses visitors often enough to be worth saying.
