Getting to
The Princess Royal.

Built in 1926 as a roadhouse and now run by Fuller's as one pub and hotel operation, the Princess Royal has 27 en-suite rooms sleeping up to 68 people, log fires, a restaurant, gardens and function rooms. Its architect, Guy Maxwell Aylwin, also worked on the Bush Hotel, which is a genuine thread between the two.

The approach

Leave the A31 at the Runfold exit, right at the T-junction, then roughly 400 metres along the old Guildford Road. There is a free car park, step-free access and a straightforward front entrance, so setting down at the door is easy once you are off the main road.

What guests usually need

Two patterns dominate. Function and wedding nights end with a group who have been drinking and cannot walk anywhere, and the morning after brings airport runs, with the hotel putting Heathrow at around forty minutes. Aldershot and Farnborough are both close, which makes this a convenient base rather than a remote one.

How do you find the hotel from the A31?

From the A31 heading towards Guildford you take the Runfold exit, turn right at the T-junction and carry on about 400 metres. The hotel is on the old Guildford Road, set behind the bypass, so aiming at the A31 carriageway itself does not work.

Can guests walk into Farnham from here?

Not realistically. The bypass took the village's amenities with it and there is no sensible walking route into town, so anyone staying here needs transport both ways.

Do you cover functions and weddings at the Princess Royal?

Yes. The Waverley Room holds the wedding licence at 80 seated or 100 standing, with the whole venue taking up to 200 on exclusive hire, so end-of-night transport is a regular booking for us here.

How far is the station?

The hotel puts Farnham station at about a mile and a half, which is a five to ten minute drive east along the A31. It also quotes around five minutes to Aldershot and fifteen to Guildford.
